Resolution
Computer monitors have different display settings that allow the user to choose the resolution they wish to see the information on the screen. As the resolution gets higher, the information being displayed gets smaller (Evening). If you were looking at an image that is 640 X 480 pixels, it would appear smaller on a monitor set to a resolution of 800 X 600(1) and even smaller at higher resolutions(2-3).
It is the opposite for content designed at a high resolution and displayed on a lower resolution monitor. An image that is 1024 X 768 would be larger than the viewable area on a monitor set to a resolution of 800 X 600.
