Sans Serif
Sans is French for "without", therefore sans serif fonts are those that have no serif. They are usually consistent in their stroke. A few have a very slight thick/thin transition such as Franklin Gothic or Lithos Pro. Sans serif fonts are very versatile and can be used effectively with other fonts styles or with variations of themselves (Williams).
