Similarity
Similarity is closely related to proximity and works in a similar way. The difference is that when similarity is applied, ideas are separated to make then distinct from one another. Elements may be almost identical but because of their proximity and individual similarity, either by size, shape, color, texture, etc. our eyes and mind organize these elements into distinct groups or ideas (Cuenca). Therefore a group composed of two different dots arranged in close proximity and similarity, or likeness, gives us two distinct ideas; square within a square(1), an x inside a square(2), a skyline or graph(3) or a square with a drop shadow(4).
