Rhythm
Balance can also be achieved using rhythm. In the same way that a musician alters the way the notes are played to produce a melody, a designer alters the repetition of elements within a composition to give it visual appeal. Rhythm can be regular and steady, flowing and alternating(1), and progressive(2).
