The effective use of color, like many other things, requires knowledge, experience and good observation. The simplest approach to using color is to always keep in mind what you are trying to communicate. Look carefully at how other artists use color and apply similar techniques to your own work. Finding colors that work well together is not difficult. Everyday products for example use color in their packaging and magazines are full of illustrations, designs, advertisements and page layouts that offer ideas of colors that work well together.
The color scheme for this guide was based on a paint sample found at a local hardware store. The colors were shifted a little but the initial idea or palette came from this sample. |
